I posted on twitter today that I went to dinner without makeup. I thought it was so silly to even say that, that I apologized. But I think I need to be a little more truthful about my insecurities, because everyone has them. Society paints the perfect image, and if you’re anything short of America’s Next Top Model, you’re… That word. “Ugly”. I don’t believe in that awful word unless it’s about a trait of a person. I think everyone is beautiful, every person has something that shines about them. Ask anyone: I’m full of compliments.
A friend once sent to me that imperfection is human, the recognition of flaw is what makes us so beautiful. I’ve obsessed over the word imperfection… because it’s not really “imperfect” is it? People are not mass produced technology, but individual personal packages of beautiful uniqueness. Custom made with interchangeable and ever evolving physicality’s and emotional ideals. Beauty, then is both in the eye of the beholder, and the one who is being perceived. You radiate the beauty you feel.
Although I can’t promise I’ll never wear the mask, I’m going to vow to start liking the “me” look. So here’s to being, me, to being human. Flaw is raw and raw is love. Bare, Bold, B.
Hmmmm…can’t tell if you have make up on or not. Great post!
